Who's Worked With Thomas?

At 15, Thomas was my very first voice teacher, He is encouraging, nurturing, and demands a lot from his students. But, most importantly, Thomas teaches solid technique! Not only did training with him help me get into one of the top drama conservatories in the country, Carnegie Melon University, but it helps me get through my eight shows a week on Broadway doing the title role in ALADDIN, I go to Thomas when I have a big audition because he helps me understand how good singing technique and good acting technique go hand-in-hand when delivering a song.
It is great that you get both a voice teacher and an acting coach in one! It is no wonder that Thomas has so many students who are working all the time!

SingWithThomas Studios is a diamond in a rough of LA’s oversaturated, overpriced, and overrated studios. Thomas genuinely cares for you and will give you and your voice his undivided attention.
Unlike other studios, Thomas won’t just let you pass with a “good enough”. He will work. stretch, and teach you until you understand where the right note is, what it feels like, and how much space/place it needs to be so that you’ll hit it every time! Thomas uses the full hour to work with you. He does cut your time short or rush through your time so you end up only paying for half the class. And he’s reasonably priced! When I was shopping around, I saw some pretty high prices.
I started going to Thomas about a year ago now, just hoping to have a voice. I knew I could sing deep down, but trying to match the people on the radio always discouraged me. With Thomas’ training, not only did I discover my voice, but I extended my vocal range! People that have known me for years that now hear my newly discovered singing voice are BLOWN AWAY! (Lol I’m not joking my grandmother almost fell off the piano bench! Seriously a sight to see lol.)
I’m so happy I found SingWithShepard Studios! I expanded my range as an actor and now am auditioning for musicals. Thomas is a great teacher, mentor, and confidant that makes you feel safe to allow your voice to grow.

I absolutely love Thomas. I cannot possibly say enough great things about him and his teachings, but I will try. Singing has been my passion and focus for as long as I can remember. I have have been fortunate enough to study with vocal coaches in New York and work professionally. However, it wasn’t until I relocated to LA and found Thomasdid I truly discover what my voice could do. He not only offers real, safe and easy to understand technique, but he creates a safe and loving environment to push yourself, maybe fail but to always try again. He has truly opened my eyes to a world of music that I love but never imagined my voice could be apart of. Well now that has all changed because of the tools I have from Thomas I know I can do just about anything. Most importantly, to me, Thomas is not only a wonderful teacher but a spectacular human. That is why I continue to make the drive from Bakersfield to Los Angeles to see him once a week. If you want to up your singing game do yourself a favor and call Thomas now!

I also want to thank you for something you said at my very first lesson that has always stuck with me about having different vocal “colors” for different characters and moods. This image was invaluable to me for the part of bipolar Diana who was emotionally all over the place. I have heard so many good singers who have pretty voices – really very pretty voices – but that’s all it is. They have no additional colors! I am so glad you taught me this and I’m still exploring new colors. You taught me that I don’t have to “sing” every single note in a musical. The audience has already decided if I am capable or not, so letting this go allowed me to bring so much more rawness and realness to the character.
Though I don’t have the time to really study voice as much as I’d like, I am so grateful for my lessons with you and I thought it was about time I let you know!
Thank you for all you’ve taught me!

Thomas is a wonderful teacher! Not only is he a great resource for unique material to sing, but he gives each student the tools they need to achieve their dreams. He knows what Casting Directors are looking for, so he works on the voice and the presentation of a song. As a dancer, Tom helped me to utilize what I focus on as a dancer and incorporate that knowledge into my placement, posture, and interpretation of a song. His lessons are extremely productive and always fun!
